A young teacher is dedicated to his job and his students in a tough inner-city school. He goes above and beyond the curriculum to educate his students. However, he has a dirty little secret... he's a cocaine addict. One day, one of his students catches him at it, which eventually leads to a relationship between the two of them. This time around, the teacher becomes the student as the girl opens his eyes to the facts of life. Gosling was Oscar-nominated for his role.
