Set back in 480 BCE, when the invading Persian emperor demanded that the Greek city of Sparta surrender to his power. The Spartan king had other ideas, and took 300 of his best soldiers to meet the Persian horde. Although seriously outnumbered, and basically on a suicide mission, the Spartans had a plan: to force the battle into a narrow mountain pass, where their smaller force would only have to deal with a few enemies at a time. Meanwhile, back home, the queen finds herself doing her duty and thinking of England in an attempt to persuade the Council to send reinforcements. Expect a lot of visual eye candy and violent battles. The film has aroused Iranian ire, as they see the derogatory depiction of the Persians as part of America's war against them.
