Set back in the early 1980s, a self-employed salesman is having trouble making ends meet. He decides to switch to a career in finance, but on the day of his job interview, his wife decides to leave him, and take their little son with her. He resists, and ends up having to look after the boy. However, things are not good at work, and without an income, he finds that life gets increasingly impossible. He perseveres against terrible odds before emerging victorious. The film is based on a true story.
