Apocalypto

Set in the final years of the violent Mayan kingdom, our hero is a young man kidnapped for a destiny as a human sacrifice. He does not like that idea, and escapes, fleeing through the jungle with his captors in hot pursuit. Some people see parallels between Mayan society and current western (particularly the USA) society, in terms of our treatment of the environment, and attitudes to war and violence. Sensitive viewers should note that this film is extremely bloody and gruesome.
