The Fountain

This ambitious sci-fi yarn examines what it means to be immortal. Spanning 1000 years at 500-year intervals, we follow three separate plotlines. The first involves a scientist trying to find a cure for his sick wife. Back in the 1600s, Queen Isabel has dispatched a conquistador to find the elusive Tree of Life. And in the distant future, a lone spaceman tends a mysterious tree. This is a difficult film which rewards some effort from the viewer.
