Eragon

This magical tale is set way back in the era of dragons. A young farm boy becomes custodian to a dragon, and learns to ride it. This upsets the evil king and his sorceror, who are intent on eliminating all dragons from their kingdom. So the two baddies set about destroying the dragon, but help is at hand in the form of a group of rebels who want to overthrow the evil king. The novel was written by a 15-year-old, who is currently busy with part 3 of the trilogy.
