Robert Altman's latest ensemble piece is set in the world of radio. A long-running country music show is having its last performance after 25 years on the air. As the performers go through their final acts, there is drama backstage as security tries to keep tabs on a mysterious woman lurking about. And then the Axeman — the corporate executioner who is shutting them down — puts in an appearance. The radio show is based on a real-life show which is still running.
