Based on the latter part of author Truman Capote's life, he becomes deeply involved in interviewing a suspected murderer for a non-fiction novel he is writing about the case. Capote already had a gay lover, and his lover becomes increasingly jealous of the convict as Capote spent more and more time with him. The relationship with the convict both powered his writing and tore him apart.
