Tsotsi

This South African movie is attracting attention at film festivals overseas, and is SA's entry to the 2006 Oscars. Set in the townships outside Johannesburg, the eponymous Tsotsi is a street thug from a damaged family. One day, after offing a woman while hijacking her car, he discovers her baby on the back seat. He is touched by the baby and takes it, forcing another young woman to breastfeed the infant. As his humanity slowly returns, he decides to return the baby to its family. This plays out in an unexpected way. In Zulu, Xhosa and Afrikaans, with English subtitles.
