During the 1950s, at the height of the Cold War, Senator Joseph McCarthy became notorious with his witchhunts amongst prominent Americans, accusing them of belonging to Communist-based organisations. He ruined the careers and lives of many people. One prominent journalist, however, saw through his game and decided to take him down. This is the story of how he did it, despite the business and career risks to himself and his television station. Note: the film is in black and white.
