Cheaper by the Dozen made enough money to justify a sequel. By now, the three oldest kids are ready to leave home, so dad arranges one last family vacation. When they arrive that find that dad's old rival, and his eight kids are already there. This sets the scene for the showdown as the two families find themselves competing head to head.
