After their success with The Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh have gone and reinvented the action adventure. This remake of the 1933 classic uses modern special effects, but keeps the action back in the past. A young woman joins an expedition to a lost island, where they discover numerous extinct animals, and the giant ape. The ape is attracted to her and defends her from attack, before being chased back to his destiny in New York. Note the long running time.
