What's a nice girl like you doing in a war like this?
This award-winning Mexican film takes a look at the civil war in El Salvador during the 1980s. The story is told from the viewpoint of an eleven year old boy, living in a poor rural village. The army was drafting boys when they turned 12, so it was a stressful time for him. In between his first romance and the struggle to survive, they also had to deal with the notorious death squads.
