This coming-of-age movie is set on an island off the East coast of the US, where ex-hippy dad and his teenage daughter live in an abandoned commune. They're pretty self-sufficient, and have little contact with the outside world. Dad, however, is ill, and brings his girlfriend and her two sons to live with them. This upsets the close relationship that he had with his daughter. Things heat up when she learns about sex, and get even hotter when another teen runaway arrives. In between this, dad has a hard time dealing with a developer who goes against his conservationsist ethos.
