Herbie is a very old Volkswagen Beetle who starred in a string of movies back in the 1970s. Now, a young woman from a racing family discovers Herbie in a scrapyard, buys him, and fixes him up. Inbetween Herbie trying to keep his flirtatious manners under control, his owner sets about emulating her dad's racing success, which does not go down well with a rival racing driver.
