A young couple are enjoying a picnic in the countryside when the man becomes involved in trying to rescue a boy in a hot-air balloon, along with two other men. As the balloon ascends despite their weight, two men let go, while the third holds on too long, and falls to his death. After this, our hero spends time trying to come to terms with what happens, as he feels responsible for the death. Meanwhile, the other man has developed a crush on him and starts stalking him. This leads to relationship problems for the couple.
