Sophiatown


A documentary using archival footage that takes a look at the black township of Sophiatown in Johannesburg, before its destruction by the previous government. Sophiatown in the 1950s was a hotbed of jazz and gangsterism. The film showcases numerous famous jazz artists who performed there, giving modern audiences a taste of what life was like back then.
