Back in 1660, women were forbidden from appearing on stage, and so all female roles were played by men. Then the king changed the law, and turned the theatrical world upside down. Our two leads are a homosexual actor who was famous for playing women, and his female dresser, who has the hots for him. She has always wanted to be an actress, and now that the law has changed, she follows that dream. But what effect will this have on her love for a man who is himself more interested in other men?
