Super Size Me
The first of this year's three big documentaries (the other
two being Touching the Void and Fahrenheit 9/11) takes a look
at America's fast food industry, in particular, McDonalds. In
a unique experiment, the presenter sets himself the goal of
living on only McDonalds foods for 30 days, under strict
medical supervision. He is checked and tested at regular intervals
as he travels around eating and interviewing customers. After
just a few weeks, his health deteriorates to such an extent
that the doctors warn him to quit or risk permanent damage to
his liver.96 minutes, Parental Guidance. Documentary. You can usually find additional (copyrighted) pictures, trailers, etc, on the Official Site. |

Ian Douglas: A difficult movie to rate... the subject matter and conclusions reached are very important, meriting at least 4 stars. However
the film as film does become a little repetitive and drag a bit in the middle, deserving only 3 stars. So I split the difference and gave it
3½ stars. Well worth seeing, frequently funny, and you'll never look at fast food the same way again.
