This film provides a close-up and extremely graphic look at the twelve hours leading up to Jesus' crucifiction. Based on the four Gospels and the visions of two nuns, it highlights the suffering and politics involved in his trial and execution. The film features dialogue in Latin, Aramaic and Hebrew, with English subtitles. It has done exceptionally well in the US, while also raising plenty of criticism about the level of graphic violence. Some people interpret it as anti-Semitic. Note the age restriction, it is *not* suitable for sensitive viewers and children, despite the religious theme.
