A coming of age tale for a young woman, set in a gloomy castle. She, her sister, and their parents live there, far from other people, which does create problems in the love department. One night, two young American men arrive, and soon, the family is working hard to get the older daughter married off to one of the Yanks. Just to complicate matters, the other Yank falls for the older sister, while our heroine falls for the one who is supposed to marry her prettier sister.
