A teenager falsely accuse of theft is sent to a correctional facility. The boys in this camp each have to dig a hole in the ground every day, to satisfy their nasty supervisors. After a while, our hero figures out that there is a reason why they have to dig all these holes, and sets about investigating with his buddy. This brings in two back stories, one about a curse on his family, and another about buried treasure, which come together. The film is adapted from a popular children's novel.
