En route to the wedding of Riker and Troi, the Enterprise is diverted to the Romulan empire, as trouble is brewing there. A half-human has wangled his way to power, and having acquired some powerful weapons, is intent on destroying Earth and the Federation. To make matters worse, the new leader is a clone of a youthful Picard, making this into an intense battle of wits.
