Set during the Victorian era, two best friends, both young officers in the British army, are both in love with the same woman. When they learn that they are about to leave for war in Africa, one becomes a pacifist and resigns his commission. His friends and girlfriend send him the ultimate tribute to cowardice, a white feather each. So after a while, he decides to redeem himself by going to Africa alone, in an attempt to regain his honour, and woman.
