Set during the cultural revolution in China, two sons of doctors are sent to the countryside to work in a mine. The make friends with a girl, who gives them encouragement. One of them manages to steal a suitcase with translated Western classics, and thus begins their real education... In Cantonese and Mandarin with English subtitles.
