A storyline vaguely similar to the smash My Big Fat Greek Wedding, set in the US Mexican community. A young woman, about to finish high school, is forced to abandon a promising academic career, to help out in her sister's dress-making shop. However, her exuberance starts to rub off on her fellow workers, and things start to happen in the factory. She also begins a romance with an Anglo boy, a situation which is sure to not meet with mommy's approval. Then comes the offer of a chance to go to college in the east... The film won some awards at Sundance.
