Based on true-life events, the movie chronicles the rise and fall of the world's greatest con artist, beginning when he was only 18 years old. For the next few years, he jetted around the world, cashing fraudulent cheques, and impersonating everything from an airline pilot to a doctor. His nemesis is a CIA operative, determined to catch the young crook. Over time, they almost develop a father-son relationship.
