A dull photo developer takes an interest in one particular family, over a period of five years. He learns a great deal about them from developing their photographs, and admires them as the perfect family. He even mentally positions himself as part of their family, an uncle to their son. One day, he discovers some marital infidelity in their marriage, a discovery that pushes him from passive observer to active participant... US reviews have been mixed.
