Windtalkers
Set in 1944 during the Allied invasion of Saipan, the film is
supposed to be about the use of Native American Indian Navajos
for communications -- they spoke the codes in their own language,
and the Japanese were unable to decipher it. The film devolves to
an exploration of racism and that old Hollywood stand-by, the Buddy Flick.
Our two heroes -- one an injured officer, and the other a Navajo, start off
rockily and develop a friendship as the war goes on. The officer has the task
of ''protecting the code'', which means making sure the Japanese never have a chance
to interrogate the Navajo...135 minutes, No persons under 16 (Violence). Action, Drama, Male conflict & bonding, War. You can usually find additional (copyrighted) pictures, trailers, etc, on the Official Site. |
