We need horses! Set in 1944 during the Allied invasion of Saipan, the film is supposed to be about the use of Native American Indian Navajos for communications -- they spoke the codes in their own language, and the Japanese were unable to decipher it. The film devolves to an exploration of racism and that old Hollywood stand-by, the Buddy Flick. Our two heroes -- one an injured officer, and the other a Navajo, start off rockily and develop a friendship as the war goes on. The officer has the task of ''protecting the code'', which means making sure the Japanese never have a chance to interrogate the Navajo...
