This latest (there are already several dozen) version of the tale of Jesse James, the first American bank robber, tries to portray him as something of an American Robin Hood. He robs trains, and gives to the poor, becoming a folk hero in the process. However, he and his gang are also cold-blooded killers, and the railroad hires a detective to track him down and eliminate him.
