This intense tale of healing centres around two very different people: a prison official working on death row, and the wife of an executed man. Both have very unhappy lives, and through a few coincidences, they end up together one day, and seek solace through sex. He has some issues with his family that need resolving, while she hated her deceased husband and abuses her son. Through their relationship, based more on comfort than on love, they both begin the healing process. Critics have praised the performances all round, and commented that the issues and characters raised linger with you long after you leave the cinema.

Ian Douglas: Kinda weird storyline, most certainly suited to the art crowd. Good performances, though neither I nor Violet could
quite understand exactly what was so spectacular about Berry's performance, or why the sex scenes caused such a rumpus... For some
reason, certain scenes do linger in your mind long after the movie.
