Hart's War
Although set towards the end of World War II, this is very different
from other recent offerings from that period. The action takes
place in a German POW camp. A privileged young officer, the son
of a senator, is denied access to the officer's bungalow, and sent to sleep
with the ordinary soldiers. Things start to get really ugly when
two black officers arrive, and are also denied access to the officer's
bungalow. One sergeant is particulary racist, and before long,
is discovered murdered, with one of the black officers standing over him.
Since our senator's son was a law student, he is assigned to
defend the alleged murderer at the court martial. Although
it looks as if the outcome has been predetermined, there is a
surprise in store...
124 minutes, No persons under 13 (Violence, Prejudice). Drama, War.
