The Royal Tenenbaums

A domineering father and loving mother raised three high-performing children, who left home early to pursue their respective careers. A few years later, they are all burnt out. Daddy has separated from mommy, and is living in a hotel. Mommy meets a nice black man and decides to remarry, which upsets daddy, who feigns a terminal illness and moves back home. Around the same time, the three kids come back home to try to sort out their messy lives. And thus the scene is set for a wicked, somewhat cerebral, comedy...

Ian Douglas: A very difficult movie, with deadpan humour most of the way. The story and presentation may just be way too offbeat for South African audiences. It may appeal to the art crowd.
