Zubeidaa

Set in 1952, our heroine is a young actress and divorcee with a child, who falls in love with a maharaja. But the maharaja already has a maharani, and, as the initial passion fizzles out, she discovers the pangs of being labelled ''the second wife'', that too without a royal parentage. And when the maharaja decides to contest an election, her status is further relegated, because he has to maintain a politically viable image to win votes.
