Save the Last Dance
A young dancer gives up dancing when her mother dies, and
she has to go and live with her divorced father. He lives in
a poor area, and she has to attend a mostly-black school, where
she is soon romantically involved with her new best friend's
brother. However, she still longs to get into Juliard, and he
both encourages and helps her train to fulfill that dream.
Along the way, they get to deal with some contemporary urban
issues, including drugs and racism.112 minutes, Parental Guidance. Drama, Romance. You can usually find additional (copyrighted) pictures, trailers, etc, on the Official Site. |

Ian Douglas: Given the title, I was expecting Yet Another Klutz Wins the Dancing Competition, but it turned out very differently. Good examination of racial issues, especially from a black teen point of view. For the rest, it does tend to follow the usual girl-meets-boy formula.
Matthew Janzen (14): This movie really shook the heck out of me...with hot dancing, and with a hint of reality with today's society... this is a MUST SEE!
Katie Ruth (14): It's the best movie ever made. |
