Shadow of the Vampire
Back in the 1920s, the production of the first rip-off film
of Dracula was plagued by misfortune and deaths. This film
speculates that the reason was that the role of the vampire
in the film was played by a real vampire, who naturally had to
fulfill his blood lust. The film is a fictionalised account of
the production of that 1920s film. It bills itself as a
horror, but turns out more like an over-the-top black comedy. 90 minutes, No persons under 10 (Violence). Comedy, Drama, Horror. You can usually find additional (copyrighted) pictures, trailers, etc, on the Official Site. |

Ian Douglas: Yes, it features good performances and good cinematic effects, and, if I was rating it purely for ''film as art'', my rating would be higher. Since I don't believe in vampires, I didn't buy the basic premise, which probably also influenced my rating. Towards the end, it went distinctly over the top and lost all credibility, which is a pity. Don't expect to be particularly scared.
