Duets
We take a look at the karaoke industry, which has graduated
from an embarrassing Japanese bar activity to a commercial
way of life in the USA. Three unlikely couples have various
adventures before they all meet in the regional finals
of a karaoke competition. The couples are a karaoke hustler
and his estranged daughter, a good-natured guy, recently dumped, and
a young woman prepared to use her body to get what she wants,
and a mid-life-crises executive who teams up with a recently-released
convict. A mix of comedy, music and drama.112 minutes, Parental Guidance (Language). Comedy, Drama, Musical.

Ian Douglas: In essence, a musical ''road movie''. As such, the storyline is more episodic than cohesive, aiming mainly to get all the characters to end up at the same place at the same time. Most of the characters are pretty unbelievable, which loses the film points.
