A new teacher arrives at a local school, and gives his class an assignment in which they must change the world in some way. One bright youngster decides to start helping people, which leads him to situations way too complex for him to handle. His well-meaning attempts appear to fail, especially his plan to hitch his mom up with the teacher, who is badly disfigured.
Ian Douglas: Gee, this film had me in tears several times, I found it very emotionally powerful and moving, and was expecting a host of Oscar nominations. Looks like the Americans thought differently, the reviewers have slated it as soppy. But if you believe that most people are basically good, the film will strike a strong chord with you.
