Set amongst the Kurdish population around the border between Iraq and Iran, we follow the adventures of a family of orphans as they struggle for survival in the harsh yet beautiful environment. The main problem facing them is how to raise money for an operation to buy a few more months for their sick brother. Work is scarce and difficult, and crime all around. Each family member makes sacrifices in their quest to help their brother. Kurdish with English subtitles.
Ian Douglas: Beautiful landscapes almost save this film. The story is well-meaning and obviously designed to tug the heartstrings, but it somehow fails to do so. The insight into the foreign culture is interesting, it makes one glad to live in a warm climate in a first-world environment.
