A young teenager with an interest in music and extraordinary writing talent gets commissioned by Rolling Stone magazine to do an article on an up-and-coming rock group. He gets to travel with them on a nationwide tour, learning the music business up close. He is also exposed to the seedy side of the industry -- the drugs and sex, which makes his loving mother paranoid with worry.The film won the Golden Globe for best Musical or Comedy.

Ian Douglas: This is basically a road movie which means it is mostly episodic, rather than having a linear plot. The hero seems to spend most of the time in a daze, as he watches all that goes on around him, while innocently sharing a room with three of the groupies. The film should appeal to teenagers.
