Teen romantic weepy. A rich kid from the local boarding school gets involved in a car race with a local boy, as they both have the hots for a local girl. They succeed in crashing, causing a fire which burns down the girl's family's restaurant. Their sentence is to help rebuild it, which of course gives all involved a chance to get to know one another better, leading to the usual messy romantic triangle...
Ian Douglas: The American critics hated this, I thought it was pretty good. Maybe I have lost all sense of taste. I thought the repartee between the two lovebirds was very witty. It was also very refreshing to see a teen rom-com WITHOUT the following: toilet humour, teens being insolent to their parents, masturbation jokes, stereotypical jocks/nerds/princesses, and thankfully, no senior prom.
