Problem is, he has written a book, and his friends are not impressed, as they all feature in the book, thinly disguised. The most dangerous part is where the main jock's girlfriend sleeps with his best friend. Ian Douglas: It seems that the US critics expected this to be a comedy, which it is not, and thus they were disappointed. It is a contemporary Black American drama, and as is common for the genre, tries to provide positive role models for said Black Americans. The heart of the story (apart from exploding the wisdom of writing novels which feature your best friends in unflattering situations) is the debate about the double standard prevalent in so much of human society: why is it okay for guys to sleep around, but not for women? The film never really resolves the issue, instead showing the person most religious also to be the most hypocritical. Two critics walked out during the preview, I considered it to be worth watching. Bridget Morake (31): The movie is just a masterpiece. For a change one has been able to watch real life issues on the box. Nothing was exagerated. It's just perfect and you know what I've watched it twice already and intend to again. Well done, everybody who was involved.
