Boiler Room
Clearly based on the Michael Milken stock scams of the 1980s
(although the producers deny it), we follow a talented young
man who is desperate to win his father's approval. He closes
his lucrative illegal casino and joins a "stockbroking" firm,
far from Wall Street. There he soon masters the art of selling
stocks to unsuspecting investors. However, that nagging feeling
that "something is wrong with this setup" just won't go away...

Ian Douglas: I unfortunately had to leave a few minutes before the end, so I don't know how it ended, but I found the story fascinating. It really *is* required viewing, especially if you are thinking of investing in a soon-to-be-listed company. The story if a mix of male conflict and bonding, coming of age and the triumph of right over wrong. Along the way it examines the morality of banning gambling joints while allowing people to gamble their life's savings on the stock exchange.
Nicholas Stofberg (19): Intens
Natasha van Vuuren (30): Wonderful ending (NOT)!
