Ian Douglas: Interesting story and narration, the film becomes almost unbearable at times due to the audio effects which accompany the hero's frequent migraines. For the art circuit crowd only.
Frank Bailey (28): 'Pi' gives us a glimpse into a way of making movies from a much more personal perspective - one can almost feel the migraines that Max suffers as he tries to find the all-powerful Number. Sean Gullette's performance was brilliant, as were the supporting cast. The grainy monochrome combines with the dark drum 'n' bass soundtrack to create a powerful experience that gives an insight into the real issues faced in the world of pure mathematics.
