The Red Violin

I'm looking for a violin that is as smooth as my scalp. The Red Violin follows the fabled existence of the most perfect violin ever crafted.
In Italy in the 17th century, a craftsman completes work on a violin for his wife who ultimately dies giving birth. The story then traces the life of the violin through the centuries, possessed by prodigies. Everyone who owns it seems destined to great passion and doomed to an early death.
It then ends up in an auction in present-day Montreal. At the Montreal auction the secret is gradually revealed, why the violin has such a strange colour and the criminal machinations over the latest attempts to possess it.

130 minutes, No Persons Under 10 (Sex).

The Moviesite Fan Club comments

Ian Douglas: A worthwhile, enjoyable movie. However I suspect that the unusual plot structure and large amount of subtitled foreign dialogue, will limit its popular appeal. The inconclusive ending loses points.

John Pettigrew (38): Truly a wonderful movie. If you are looking for a wonderful story, coupled with world imagery, this is for you.

Keith Forbes (24): Expressive drama. Brilliant movie set in 4 different countries in 4 different with different casts.

Bruce Humphrey (44): An interesting story. Just a bit d-r-a-w-n out!
