Joe Gastineau is an ex-fisherman who makes a living drifting between odd jobs. Donna De Angelo is a washed-up career lounge singer who lands herself in an Alaskan town for a stint at the local bar. Her teenaged daughter drifts between the reality of life in cheap hotels and a fantasy world of storytelling. She then begins a relationship with local boy.
