The story about a little girl whose parents are both deaf. At a very early age, she has to help them communicate with the world by interpreting for loan officers and teachers, which means that she's maturing faster than the average child. Her aunt introduces her to the clarinet and she immediately develops a talent and and interest in it. This, however, irritates her father, because he can't hear music and doesn't want her to get sucked into his family's clutches. Grown and mature, she realizes that music will be her career. Even though her father wants her to stay at home, she spends her summer in Berlin preparing for a music academy audition.
