A retelling of the tale of the ''virgin queen''. Set in England in 1554, the film begins in the waning days of the reign of the dying Mary I, a Catholic who rules the country at a time of religious tensions. The most likely successor is Mary's Protestant half sister, Elizabeth, but others, such as the evil Duke of Norfolk, intend to prevent that from happening. History like you've never seen it before, Oscar nominations and all.

Dalene Jordaan: One of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Honest and real.
Graeme Smith: Wow!! What a marvellous piece of work. I can understand now why it received 7 Oscar nominations. Cate Blanchett was superb. The whole cast was great, especially Geoffrey Rush and Joseph Fiennes. The costumes were very detailed. A must see!! Definitely one of the best movies this year.
Claire Nicole: Loved every moment of it.
Arauna Zeelie: Excellent! Love history and especially that period. Thought Cate Blanchett was brilliant. She was robbed of an Oscar. Whiney Gwyneth should have been given a miss. I will see this movie again.
