The Thin Red Line

I've got ants in my pants! This year's second World War II epic, this time focussing on the American invasion of the Japanese-held island of Guadalcanal in the South Pacific. With not much of a storyline, the emphasis is on the men involved, and the surroundings. As with the director's previous work, the critics have been divided, some praising it to the skies and other condemning it (although I don't think I have see so many perfect scores in the nearly three years that this site has existed). Note the running time.

170 minutes, No persons under 13 (Violence).
Action, Drama, War.

You can usually find additional (copyrighted) pictures, trailers, etc, on the Official Site.

Where's it showing?

The Moviesite Fan Club comments

Cal Kennedy: Very slow, voice over tended to get lost in the background, good sound track and photography, but may as well have been a glorified documentary.

Penny de Vries: The only thing left to do with war is to philosophise about it. This movie does it brilliantly.

Alanna Johnson: Great movie!!!!!!!

Graeme Smith: Why this got a multitude of Oscar nominations is beyond me. Saving Private Ryan was a million times better. Don't waste your time on this overlong movie, with its average battle scenes. Terence Malick throws in a million big stars just to distract the audiences. This is totally different to the novel. The only good thing about the entire movie is the cinematography. Elizabeth which starts this week can only be a thousand times better. This movie also received mixed reviews. I can understand now. Wait for the video if you must see this overhyped film.

Nick Soper: Oh boy! What a waste of time! For 3 hours, I battled to keep my eyes open. "The Thin Red Line" is proof that big names don't mean a good movie. I TRIED to see the inner beauty of the film. I TRIED to see the "superb" direction, but all I could see was "Saving Private Ryan" kicking "The Thin Red Line's" @$$ !!!

Gilad Shimshon: This is cinema!
