Jessica does her ''evil stepmother'' thing again. (Methinks she is in danger of becoming typecast!) This time, she plays a not-even-middle-aged ''old maid'' at the time of the French Revolution, who is rejected by her cousin, whom she loves. She adopts a starving artist and falls in love with him. He however, much prefers her niece. Spurned, our villian sets up an elaborate revenge plot, using her cousin's mistress as bait. The plan backfires, and the revenge gets more and more vicious...
